Meet Cheryl Richardson #PowerfulWomanProfile

To say I am excited for you to meet Cheryl Richardson is an understatement, and I want to explain why… When I first started Purple Dot Yoga Project, my intention was always for others to take ownership with me. I would always tell people that this isn’t my project, that it belonged to everyone who felt called to share and support it’s mission, and Cheryl has been a tried and true supporter from the very start. She has shown up to our grassroots fundraising events, volunteered with us, taken our Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training, shared our cause on every possible platform, and now we are so honored to know that she is not only running her 3rd half marathon, but also dedicating her training to our cause and raising money along the way!

Cheryl is a badass, because not only does she do all this for us, she is also a wife, mother, Client Relationship Coordinator, and one of the nicest, most kind-hearted people I have ever met. On instagram, Cheryl does a fun, and super inspiring thing called “Garage Yoga”, where she creates little yoga jams in her corporate office parking garage. She also facilitates Artist Vibes workshops, a mixture of yoga and art, and is finishing her 500 hour YTT. Cheryl doesn’t eff around. Her presence is soft, yet bold, her words are outspoken, yet reserved. And her training for this half marathon shows her dedication to herself, her family, and our cause.

Please take a moment to get to know her, and if you feel called to donate to her campaign for us, feel free to click here.

Name:
Cheryl Richardson

Date of Birth/Sign:
April 2nd. I’m a beautiful Aries and I celebrate my birthday all month!

Your favorite feature about yourself:
Oh my gosh I have so many and can’t just name one. I love my freckles though I must admit…growing up I did get made fun of at times. I love the color and texture of my hair. I’m also the keeper of my own light which I keep vibrant by living a creative life.

If you could share a cup of coffee with anyone who would it be and why?
Would this be only one person? Oh Wow? There are a few people that come to mind. My beautiful friend Rachel Risco comes to mind first. I lost her to Breast Cancer of few years ago. I would love to sit and chat with her. We always had such fun conversations. Her spirit amazes me and she always gave the best hugs.

What makes me feel good inside and out?
When I’m with my family, when I’m painting/sketching, laughing, doing things outdoors or enjoying a beautiful glass of wine. Naps, running , yoga and nature. Cuddling with my dog Keylee. Just to name few. W

Through your personal tragedy what is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned that it’s ok to ask for help. It’s ok to cry or yell . Just don’t forget to breathe, use your voice and ask for help.

If someone were going through the same thing right now what would you say to them?
Use your breath and your voice. Both are very powerful tools to help get us through those tough experiences in life. Be seen be heard and ask for help. Y

The most exciting thing that you have done in your life so far:
Exciting…I have a few but moving from Ohio to Florida was pretty exciting. I’ve experienced so many cool things and met some amazing people since moving here. The Sunshine State! Of course I must mention my wedding and the birth of my 2 girls. Aaliyah & Ty

Tell us something not a lot of people know about you:
I like to write and I’ve had several articles published on two online yoga magazines. Y

Something you wish people knew about struggle or domestic violence: Last year I attended a Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training. One of the most important things I learned was that it’s important for  those impacted by domestic violence to have a safe space to heal, not feel blamed and to know that they have a voice. Those who are willing to help should listen..like really listen.

If you could do anything what would you do and why?
Anything I put my mind to I can do. I’m currently training for my third half marathon. I do want to travel outside the U.S. and visit different yoga studios. Meet up with some fellow yogis. Start my own business, write more articles and sell more of my artwork.

If you could pick a superpower what would it be?
Transport myself to various destinations in the blink of an eye. I of course would need to be bring some travel buddies with me 😉
